Scripture:
Matthew 25: 14-18
Main Verse:
Matthew 25: 15
To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.
Observation:
In the parable of the bags of gold, the master did not give each servant an equal amount of gold. He gave one servant 5, to another one 2, and to another just 1 bag of gold because he knows how much gold his servant can handle correctly. The first and second servants were able to successfully increase the bags of gold, while the last servant hid the only bag of gold given by his master because he was afraid. He did not realize that his master gave him the gold, not to hide them, but to make wise use of them.
God bestows talents upon His children based on their level of abilities. He knows our strengths and weakness, so He will not give us more than what we can handle. He gives us opportunities to succeed in life and He provides us with the resources that we need to prosper. But if we let worry creep in our life, we may not be able to experience a happy, fulfilled, and prosperous life.
Application:
God has the ability to give us an unimaginable amount of time, talent, and treasure, so we should know how we can make full use of them. If you do not know how, always remember that you can ask the Lord for help. I asked the Lord to give me time, MORE time, to know more about Him and be close to Him, and God granted my request. If you want Him to use your resources, pray to the Lord to give you opportunities to use your money and wealth. If you want the Lord to use your talent in works of service, ask the Lord how. He is the source of our abilities, talents, and resources, so God expects us to use them wisely.
Prayer:
Father, you are such a generous God and you have entrusted me with abilities and resources. May I be able to use them sensibly to bring glory to your name. May I be able to utilize most of my time to share with others your great love and compassion. May I be able to maximize the opportunities you present me with and may nothing be wasted. Let nothing hinder me from reaching my full potential as your servant, Lord. These I pray in Jesus's name. AMEN.
