Daily Devotion: A Generous God

Scripture:
Psalms 34

Main Verse:
Psalm 34: 10
The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

Observation:
The Lord promises His bountiful blessings when we seek and fear Him:

1. A clear conscience - Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame (v. 5)
2. A fearless spirit - I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears; The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them. (vv. 4 and 7)
3. Deliverance in times of trouble - This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles; The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles; The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; (vv. 6, 17, & 19)
4. Sufficient provisions - Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. (vv. 9 & 10)
5. Protection against enemies - The Lord will rescue his servants; no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. (v. 22)

The Lord does not spare his blessings upon those who seek Him. Our God is a generous God!

Application:
In order for us to enjoy God's numerous blessings, we need to ALWAYS seek for the Lord's direction. The Lord wants us to fear Him, to call on him, to turn from evil and to do good. The Lord wants us to worship Him and give Him the reverence He deserves, and in return we can expect Him to pour out his love and his blessings. A father is generous to his children. He will provide everything that his children needs. Our Lord is just like our earthly father. He pours out his love if we also show him the love and respect that He deserves as our Father. And God has never broken any of his promises. When He promises, he delivers. We can expect that from our generous God!

Prayer:
Father, I praise and thank you for your immeasurable love and blessings. Words are not enough to express how wonderful you are! Indeed, I can hold on to your promises of protection, pardon, and provision when I continue to seek you and obey your directions. Thank you for your promises. AMEN.
