Daily Devotion: The One Who Prays For Us

Scripture:
Luke 22: 25-38

Main Verse:
Luke 22: 32
But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.

Observation:
Jesus was talking directly with Peter in this verse, but he warned the disciples that they will go through tough times as Satan "sifts them as wheat." But the Lord also promised Peter that He will pray for Him so that his faith may be strengthened. The Lord also commanded Peter to take care of his brothers and strengthen them as each of them go through difficult times.

If there is anything that we can hold on to, it is the Lord's promise that He "prays for us." We will all experience trials, temptations, and tests. It is inevitable because Satan has been given permission to sift us like wheat. But the Lord's encouragement that He is with us gives us hope. Our victories in the face of adversity strengthens our faith.

Application:
Therefore, because we have our Great Mediator who continues to pray for us, we can all lead triumphant  lives. The enemy will shake us, harass, annoy, and provoke us, but apart from our prayers of protection from our Lord Jesus, He himself prays for our protection against the ways of the enemy. We need not be afraid because the Lord will give us victory.

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for your protection and for continuously looking after me. I have the confidence that nothing evil will befall me because you are beside me, watching over me and protecting me. Thank you that I can always be secure in you. AMEN.
