Hebrews 3: 1-19
Main Verse:
Hebrews 3: 13
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called "Today," so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.
Observation:
The Lord reminds us in Hebrews that we should be careful about unbelief. When the Lord took the Israelites out of Egypt, there were several instances when the Israelites disobeyed and lacked faith in God. They even complained and were unhappy with what the Lord had done for them. If we are familiar with the story of the Israelites' journey to the Promised Land, we know that that generation was unable to enter the Promised Land because of their sins. Therefore, the writer of Hebrews gave this example to remind us that we need to encourage one another so that we do not end up sinning against the Lord.
Application:
I like reading encouraging, Godly posts on my Facebook feed especially when the posts come from my family and friends who I know are real followers of Christ. I feel that they have been touched and blessed by a particular verse they have read from the Bible or an article they have read somewhere, so they are sharing what they have read. It is easier now to encourage others because of social media. It is a good way to comfort, inspire, and strengthen a brother or sister in Christ. We need to do this daily, as Hebrews 3:13 tells us to do. Who else will encourage our brethren but us? Who else will understand our situations but our brothers and sisters in Christ? Share an inspiring story or some Word from the Lord, and ENCOURAGE someone TODAY!
Prayer:
Father, thank you for my brothers and sisters in Christ who continue to be a source of blessing and inspiration to me. Help me be like my fellow believers, so that I may also encourage others through your Word. AMEN.
