Scripture:
Psalm 36: 1-12
Main Verse:
Psalm 36: 6
Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, Lord, preserve both people and animals.
Observation:
King David wrote some of the most beautiful poems when he was king of Israel. In Psalm 36, he begins with a description of wicked people and what they like doing. They do not fear the Lord. Their words, actions, and thoughts are filled with evilness (vv. 3-4). But from vv. 5-10, David describes the Lord's love, faithfulness, and righteousness. God's lovingkindness and faithfulness is inexhaustible (v.5). His righteousness is boundless and immeasurable (v.6), and we can always take refuge under His wings (v.7). His love is precious and His provisions overflow (v.8), and He is the source of eternal life and our divine light. He never fails to protect those that He loves. David ends the psalm with a verse stating what will happen to those who are wicked--they will fall, unable to rise.
Application:
We all have the choice to delight in the love and righteousness of God, or follow the path toward wickedness. If we have already experienced God's love in our lives, then evilness will not have any place in our hearts. Our heart, just like King David's heart, wil always seek the righteousness of the Father. We cannot fathom the depth of the Lord's great love for us. Let us not waste His precious love. The Lord wants us to continue to seek and walk in His presence. It is the ONLY way He can protect us. When we desire to seek and do His will, He promises that He will never leave us. There is nothing to be afraid of when we dwell in the Lord's presence.
Prayer:
Father, you never fail to amaze me with your character. Everyday, as I read your Word, I continue to know you more, and I keep falling in love with you. You are indeed wonderful! And the more I see your greatness, the more I see my worthlessness. It is only your great love that gives my life value, Lord. Thank you for loving me and protecting me. I have the confidence to say that You are my Helper, and I have nothing to be afraid of! All praises and honor and glory in the Mighty Name of Jesus. AMEN.
