Daily Devotion: It Is Good!

Scripture:
Genesis 1

Main Verse:
Genesis 1: 31
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.

Observation:
Genesis 1 gives us an account of The Creation. God formed everything out of nothing: the heavens and the seas, the heavenly bodies, land and vegetation, every living creature, and the first man and woman. And after creating them, what did God say? Every time He finished creating something, the Lord said, "It was good." And it was not only good; God created everything in perfect timing. Have you ever imagined what could have happened if our God made mistakes when He created the world? Like if He first created man before filling the earth with vegetation, or if God created land with no water surrounding it? But our God is perfect! He can never make mistakes! So the Lord exclaimed at the end of his every finished creation that "It is good!" A masterpiece!

Application:
Whenever I go to the beach, take a walk on the mountains, or simply watch the sunset, I can't help but feel amazed at how beautiful the world is. They make me appreciate more how great and awesome is our God. But have you ever thought about why we are able to appreciate the beauty of the world around us? It is because God created man according to His image (Genesis 1:26), so we have this ability to admire something good. We appreciate the magnificent mountains, stunning caves, and majestic underwater landscapes. We are amazed at the uniqueness of every living creature. And when we find ourselves delighted and exclaim, "Wow," it is because God gave us this capacity to admire something good. Sometimes, we are too preoccupied with the things of this world that we fail to take a minute to enjoy the Lord's creations. We need to sometimes slow down so we can notice the beauty of this world. Take time to REALLY pause, get outside, and exclaim, "It is good!"

Prayer:
Father, your works are beyond description! Everything that you have put in this world is your handiwork, and there is nothing imperfect in your creation. Thank you for letting me live in this place called earth that you've filled with your amazing creatures. Thank you for creating me according to your likeness, and for making me unique in every way. Thank you for all your wonderful blessings! Indeed, you alone deserve all glory and honor and praises!
