Daily Devotion: Worship and Devotion

Scripture:
Romans 11: 33-36

Main Verses:
Romans 11: 36
For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.

Observation:
There will always be someone that we emulate or look up to. Many of us have our favorite singers and celebrities. I do, too, and depending on how much we idolize these people, we either spend some or a considerable amount of time trying to know more about their lifestyles, their likes and passions, their fashion tastes, and anything worth knowing about them. Devoted fans do more than that. They follow their favorite actors or actresses anywhere, collect memorabilia, magazines, pictures, etc., and follow them on social media.

The early believers in the first church in Acts 2 devoted their time to the church, not only to have fellowship, but to listen to the apostles' teaching (v.42). They also spent time praising God (v.47). I could imagine at that time how people were praising God. They were praising the Lord because they were in awe of Him, and they know what He is capable of doing! Do you think they would have gone through the effort of praising and worshipping God and devoting their time for the Lord if they had not known who it is that they were worshipping?

Application:
We cannot truly worship God if we do not know who He is. To be able to genuinely worship the Lord, we need to understand His character, study His commandments, and develop a deep sense of fear and reverence for Him. All things come from God. He is the Creator of everything (Genesis 1:1). He made everything out of nothing! He made everything through the Lord Jesus Christ. He spoke and everything that man needs here on earth existed! "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1) Through His power, everything came into existence. Therefore, God owns everything in this world, EVERYTHING. Everything was created for Him, so all honor and glory should be accorded to Him alone. Our ultimate purpose here on earth is to give Him the glory He deserves. Let us give Him our deepest devotion and the honor that is due Him.

Prayer:
Thank you, Father, for showing me Your glory in all Your works! You are amazing in everything, and in everything that You created, I see your greatness and power. There is no one worthy of receiving praises and worship but you, oh Lord! Indeed, all glory, all honor, all power, and majesty belong to your Mighty Name, forever and ever. AMEN.
