Daily Devotion: Dress to Impress

Scripture:
Colossians 3: 1-17

Main Verse:
Colossians 3: 12
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Observation:
Admit it or not, we like dressing up especially when the occasion calls for it. We wear nice clothes when we have a job interview because we want to create a good first impression to our future employer. On a first date, we wear our bestest clothes because we want our date to see us as a future mate. We dress up when we attend a wedding because the occasion requires us to do so. Paul addressed the believers in Colossae to clothe themselves with godly virtues because they are God's chosen people. It is required for all of us who claim to be Christians and followers and believers of Christ to be compassionate, kind, humble, gentle, and patient.

Application:
Our first impression as Christians is very important. The way we walk, talk, and act will be criticized by the people that we meet every day, so we should strive hard to dress to impress others. When they do not see Christlike virtues in us, we ruin not only our testimony as Christians, but Christ's honor and reputation. Christians and non-Christians must always see in us Christ's character, so we must clothe ourselves with the right attitude and qualities.

Prayer:
Father, continue to create in me a heart full of compassion, gentleness, kindness, humility, and patience. May others see in me Christlike qualities, and may my life be honorable and acceptable in your sight. AMEN.
