Scripture:
Titus 2: 1-8
Main Verses:
Titus 2: 7-8
In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
Observation:
Paul encouraged leaders in Titus 2 to set a good example to others, and to do that one must have integrity. A "man of integrity" is someone who is honest and possesses strong moral principles. If you have integrity, you wouldn't do anything to dishonor you. You do the right thing in every circumstance even when no one around is watching you. In the context of verse 7, Paul was instructing leaders to practice what they preach.
Application:
We are all leaders in church in one way or another. Even if you belong to the younger group in your church, you can still lead and be an example to others by being constantly conscious of your actions. Your talk and walk reflects your Christian values so you should intentionally think about your behavior in every circumstance. Show integrity, and people won't have anything bad to say about you. However, if our behavior contradicts what we preach, our integrity as a Christian is compromised. James 3:13 reminds us, "If you are wise and understand God's ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom." (NLT)
Prayer:
Father, thank you for reminding me about the importance of an honorable life. May I always set a good example to everyone, and in my actions and speech, may everyone know that I am your follower. Let my heart desire to do the right thing in all situations and may I practice honestly on all occasions even when no one is looking. May I live a life of integrity at all times so I can be worthy of leading others. All these I pray in Jesus's name. AMEN.
