Scripture:
Matthew 6: 25-34
Main Verse:
Matthew 6: 31-34
So don’t ever worry by saying, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’ because it is the unbelievers who are eager for all those things. Surely your heavenly Father knows that you need all of them! But first be concerned about God’s kingdom and his righteousness, and all of these things will be provided for you as well.
Observation:
The Lord was clear about leaving all the worrying about our daily needs to Him. As Creator of everything, there is nothing that the Lord cannot do. Isn't it that He gives us the land where we can plant our crops? We plow the fields, we water our crops, but it is the Lord who makes everything grow. The sea provides us with abundant fish and seafood. We do not care for them, yet we are able to enjoy the fresh produce of our oceans. The Lord has provided us with everything that we need on earth.
I remember the story of the Israelites who complained to Moses after God saved them from slavery. While in the dessert, they worried about being hungry. Instead of thanking God for giving them freedom, they continued to complain and worry about what they will eat and drink. Sometimes, we are like the Israelites. Instead of thanking God for his blessings and for providing our needs, we worry, or even worse, complain about not having enough.
Application:
As God's children, we should never let worry enter into our hearts. Are we believers or unbelievers of God? Don't we believe that our God is our Great Provider, a caring Father who always watches over his children ? Therefore, worry should have no place in our life. We need to seek his righteousness first, and let him work on providing our needs. God should be the center of our lives, and our priority is to know His will at all times.
Prayer:
Father, forgive me when I forget to seek your will and let worry enter my heart. You alone can see the desires of my heart. I pray that I may always prioritize you in everything, and let your will lead me in all my decisions and actions. May I always hear your voice so I can make the right choices, the right decisions in accordance with your will. AMEN.
