Psalm 32
Main Verses:
Psalm 32: 1
Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
Observation:
Verse 1 of Psalm 32 gives us two parallel ideas. First, transgressions and sins are synonymous, and forgiven and covered are also the same. Therefore, we can say that our sins are "covered" when the Lord forgives us. When something is dirty, we don't want to see it or touch it. We don't want to lay a finger on it. The Lord hates sin because it is against His holy nature. He covers our sin because He detests it and does not want to see it.
King David exclaimed that we are blessed when the Lord forgives us from our sins. Why? Because the Lord does not want his people to be covered in it. Instead, He wants to wrap us with his Holiness. He wants to forget our sins.
Application:
We do not like dirt in our houses and we do everything we can do to get rid of it. The Lord feels that way about sin. He does not want any of it in our lives. So when we ask the Lord for forgiveness, we can have the assurance that He will cover us and cleanse us. We can hold on to God's promise of forgiveness and blessing when we sincerely come to His presence to ask for His grace and mercy.
Prayer:
Lord, it is a blessing to know that I have a forgiving Father. Thank you for covering my sins and for accepting me despite my imperfections. May I continue to experience your love, grace, and mercy. AMEN.
