Daily Devotion: A Godly Mother

Scripture:
Proverbs 31

Observation:
Proverbs 31 sums up a Godly woman's traits and abilities, but in the light of Mother's Day today, the verses may also describe Godly mothers. Mothers have a difficult role. They are great multitaskers. They can perform many tasks at the same time. But a mother who looks up to God always follows the Lord's will in her life. She acts with dignity (v. 25), speaks with wisdom (v. 26), and takes very good care of her family (v. 27). More importantly, she fears the Lord. A mother who knows and does the will of the Lord and obeys Him will surely be able to raise a great household.

Application:
Today is Mother's Day, so let me dedicate these verses to the amazing mothers out there. May you continue to be our source of strength and wisdom!

Proverbs 31: 25-31
25. She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
26. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
29. "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."
30. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
31. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for mothers. Thank you for giving me a mother who knows how to fear the Lord. My mom is an inspiration. Give her strength and good health so that she may continue to serve you, Oh Lord, in Jesus name I pray. AMEN.
