Scripture:
Psalm 37
Main Verse:
Psalm 37: 23-24
The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.
Observation:
King David was not perfect. During his reign as king, he also sinned against the Lord. He became an adulterer and a murderer, but we can see how he still found favor in the Lord's sight. King David showed us what kind of relationship he had with the Lord. He delighted in God's presence and in His commands, and he submitted to the Lord's will. When he wrote Psalm 37, he had already experienced how God took care of him, how the Lord held his hand so he will not continue to fall. The Lord was faithful to David because David was faithful to the Lord, too.
Application:
How's our fellowship with the Lord? Do we delight in God's presence? What makes us happy? David found happiness whenever he was in God's presence. I believe he wrote some of the most beautiful psalms because he enjoyed every moment, every opportunity, of having fellowship with the Lord. Do we also feel the same joy when we have our prayer and quiet times with the Lord? Do we appreciate all the good things that the Lord does for us, no matter how small it may be? Do we delight in the Lord's commands and willingly obey them? Let us have that strong desire, like David's, to be in an intimate fellowship with the Lord.
Prayer:
Lord, my heart desires to always feel your presence. I pray that I may experience the same intimate fellowship that David had with you. May I find favor in your sight. AMEN.
