Scripture:
Hebrews 4: 14-16, 10: 19-23
Main Verse:
Hebrews 4: 16
Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Observation:
On the Feast of the Passover, the Israelites were instructed to put blood on their doorposts using the blood of a sacrificial lamb. The blood was significant because it was symbolic of life and death: life for the firstborn Israelites and death for the firstborn Egyptians who did not put blood on their doorposts. It also symbolized the death of an animal to be sacrificed so that others may live. To get the blood of the lamb, the Israelites had to kill it. The sacrifice of the lamb was necessary so that their firstborn sons may live.
The blood that Jesus shed on the cross means a great deal to us. He was the Sacrificial Lamb who offered his life so we can live. His death on the cross meant life for each one who received Him by faith.
Application:
Because of the blood that our Lord Jesus shed on the cross, we can confidently approach our Father. He is our One and Only High Priest who mediates on our behalf. The blood of Jesus has power over all and every thing! There's so much happening in the world: so many troubles, so many crimes, so many wars, and catastrophes. But none of these is more powerful than the blood of Jesus! We can ask the Father to help us when we are in need, in trouble, or in pain because our Lord Jesus Christ intercedes for us. We have victory over everything in this world because the blood of Christ has won over all, including sin and death!
Prayer:
What a wondrous assurance I have with you, my Lord Jesus! I can never thank you enough for the blood you have sacrificed so that I can have the confidence to approach the Father. Your grace truly abounds and your mercy is everlasting. I am unworthy of your sacrifice, but you have graciously extended your mercy on me. Thank you, Lord, for your sacrifice. My prayer is that my life may be worthy of the blood you have shed on the cross. May I continue to enjoy the blessings of a victorious life. All these I pray in your Holy and Mighty Name. AMEN.
