Daily Devotion: Remember God

Scripture:
Joshua 24: 14-15

Main Verses:
Joshua 24: 14-15
"Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."

Observation:
The Israelites were so blessed for having the Lord at their side at all times. From verses 2-13 of Joshua 24, the Lord reminded his people of the great things He had done for them, yet the Israelites were such a stubborn and disobedient nation. I'm not sure what was going on in the minds of the Israelites! God was with them in every battle, every journey, and everywhere they went. God gave them victory over their enemies and provided them with all their needs. Yet many of the Israelites still chose to be unfaithful to the Lord and had other gods. But Joshua was different. He wanted to serve the Lord until the end of his life. He wanted his household to continue serving God. For Joshua, it's either serve the Lord or not.

Application:
If your life has been touched by God, you will never want to leave the relationship you have with the Lord. How many times has the Lord helped you in a tough situation? Who has provided you with your daily needs, and sometimes even more than what you need? When you were in a stressful condition, and you cried to the Lord for help, didn't the Lord respond to your call? The Lord has always been faithful to us even when sometimes we are not. When we are getting complacent with our relationship with Him, let us remember His graciousness and faithfulness. He alone deserves our 100% loyalty and devotion.

Prayer:
My Father, forgive me for being insensitive to your miracles in my life. Forgive me for being unappreciative of your love and faithfulness. Forgive me for being forgetful! I will always be grateful for your faithfulness and your boundless love. I don't want to be a complacent child. May I always be ready to serve you in every way that I can, Lord. In Jesus's name I pray. AMEN.
