Scripture:
Matthew 13: 44-46
Main Verses:
Matthew 13: 44-46
The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.
Observation:
Today's parable shows us how two men responded when they both found treasure. The first one sold everything that he had and bought the field where he found the treasure. The second one sold all of his pearls that were less valuable because he had found a pearl that had great value. Both of them reacted in similar manners. They gave up everything they had in exchange for what was more valuable.
Finding Jesus is like finding treasure. When you have Jesus in your life, you will never be in want because He fills you. Having His presence in your life is more than the treasures of this earth.
Application:
Many times, we fail to recognize the most important thing in our life. Ask yourself this question: When I die, do I know where I will go?
Everything in this world will end. Whatever treasure we have stored up here on earth is useless when we die. We cannot bring our houses or cars or gadgets to our grave. But having Jesus in our lives is our greatest treasure so we have reason to be joyful at all times. When you truly believe that Jesus has saved you, your salvation is something that can never be snatched away from you. But if you have been seeking all your life for that peace and joy and contentment, it is time that you discover Jesus. Amidst all the misfortunes and tragedies of this world, you can find peace, joy, comfort, and contentment in the arms of Jesus.
Prayer:
My precious Savior and Lord, I will forever thank you for letting me experience joy, peace, and contentment. Thank you for your gift of salvation. Having you in my life is my greatest treasure. May I be able to share your gift of salvation to others so that they may also discover the joy of being with You. AMEN.
