Scripture:
1 Corinthians 15: 12-34
Main Verse:
1 Corinthians 15: 33
Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character."
Observation:
Our God is relational. There are many verses in the Bible wherein the Lord constantly reminded us to imitate his commitment to relationships. And because He is our Father and we are His children, He wants us to value this connection we have with Him.
Paul reminded us to be careful with our relationships because bad company corrupts good character. We usually adopt the values, habits, actions, and language of the people we are most frequently together with. There is a saying, "birds of the same feather flock together." When you choose to hang out with people who behave badly, people will start thinking you share the same values even though you are in no way similar with them. Therefore, we have to be careful with our connections.
Application:
The Lord wants us to spend more time with Him, to build our relationship with Him, and to establish a deeper connection with Him. When we do, we will eventually become more like Him. As Christians, it should be our goal to pursue Jesus, to be more like Jesus. We can never go wrong with our relationship with Him. He wants us to enjoy the abundant peace and joy that He alone can provide. Let us make it our goal, our pursuit, to be more like Jesus.
Prayer:
Lord, thank you. Thank you that you wanted to reestablish the broken connection. Thank you because you have sacrificed yourself to mend our relationship with the Father. I pray, oh Lord, that others may see more of You in my life as I continue to walk in your presence. May others see less of me so that your glory may shine in me. I pray that my family, friends, relatives, previous co-workers, and others see who You are through my actions and words, so they may come to know You personally as their Lord and Savior. All these I pray in your Mighty Name. AMEN.
