Daily Devotion: A Life of Purity

Scripture: Ephesians 5: 1-20
Main Verse:
Ephesians 5: 17
Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.

Observation:
The apostle Paul explicitly mentioned that a person who lives a life of greed, immorality, and impurity will not have a place in God's kingdom (v.5) and that as God's children, we should follow the example set by Jesus Christ. Paul cautioned believers against those three things. The Lord is never pleased with them and they are considered improper acts. Instead of impure words, there should be thanksgiving. Instead of living in darkness, we should live as children of light. Instead of hurting the Lord, find out what pleases Him.

Application:
As believers who have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus, we need to live a life that is acceptable in the eyes of God. We are always under the scrutiny of other people, and they will always look for our mistakes and sins. We need to be careful about our words and actions so that others may see Jesus in our lives. We must remember that as salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13), others must be able to taste and see the difference that Jesus has done and continues to do in our lives.

Prayer:
Father, forgive me when I fail to show to others what it means to follow your will. Help me set a good example, walking in the way of love, so thay I may always bring glory to your name. AMEN.
