Daily Devotion: Weapons of Destruction

Scripture:
2 Corinthians 10: 1-5

Main Verse:
2 Corinthians 10: 3-4
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

Observation:
Paul has given us a reminder that since we live in this world, we will always be attacked by the enemy. The devil doesn't want us to grow in our relationship with the Lord and he doesn't want God to be glorified, so he attacks Christians all over the world by destroying our testimony. Sometimes, we end up falling into his trap by thinking that what is being offered to us is morally good and acceptable, when in fact it is just sugar-coated so that it looks appealing to us. Remember, he can disguise himself as an angel of light. We must not fall into his trap and remember that we have the means to defend ourselves against his tactics.

Application:
As Christians, we should all be aware of the devil's schemes. He will deceive us and distract us because he wants to destroy us. But we need not be afraid because the Lord has provided us with weapons of destruction. We must continue to trust in the Lord to help us overcome the enemy. We must learn to seek the truth through God's Word and listen to His voice in prayer so that we won't be easily deceived. We should keep our hearts focused on God so that we won't be easily dragged away from the Lord. Let us put on the "armor of God" so we can claim victory over the enemy.

Prayer:
Father, it is not easy to win the battles in this world if I just trust in my own ways. But thank you, Lord, that you have given me the means to defeat the enemy. Help me to stay focused on you at all times, so that when the enemy attacks, I can immediately counter him and defend myself against his evil schemes. AMEN.
